Cartographic modeling of tourism and ecological objects as a component of professional training for tourism industry specialists
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article comprehensively investigates the theoretical and methodological aspects of using cartographic modeling in professional training of tourism industry specialists through geographic information systems (GIS). The urgent problem of improving tourism education quality by integrating modern information technologies into the educational process for forming students' professional competencies is revealed. The results of a thorough pedagogical experiment are presented, which convincingly confirmed the high effectiveness of implementing GIS technologies in the educational process. Innovative pedagogical methods are analyzed in detail: problem-based learning, case methods, gamification, and the use of digital educational resources. An original model for GIS integration into educational programs has been developed, providing a comprehensive, systematic approach to forming professional skills of tourism industry students. The research reveals the broad potential of cartographic modeling in tourism education. Practical recommendations cover various aspects of GIS application: creating interactive tourist maps, optimal route modeling, comprehensive ecological risk assessment, developing innovative mobile applications, and in-depth analysis of tourist flows. Emphasis is placed on the necessity of continuous professional training improvement through the introduction of advanced information technologies. The study outlines promising directions for further scientific research, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the expansion of interdisciplinary connections in the context of cartographic modeling and tourism personnel training.
