Study design: Systematic Review
Abstract: In recent years, there has been a rapid evolution in the way digital technologies influence the educational environment. Technologies have brought with them innovative approaches that have the potential to improve the quality of teaching and learning. Interactive Mathematical Modeling is the concept given for the interaction of mathematical modeling and digital technologies. It is an innovative teaching strategy that can help teach mathematics and contribute to the development of skills. This article aims to identify the skills developed in the interaction between mathematical modeling and digital technologies in Mathematics Degree Courses. This research is a systematic literature review, of the state of the art. The publications analyzed were from the Scielo database from 2019 to 2023, according to the criteria established by Randolph. The search for works was carried out using the keywords: “Mathematical modeling with digital technologies in mathematics teaching”, “Interactive mathematical modeling”, and “Mathematical modeling in mathematics teaching”. The analysis identified that two articles present the interaction between mathematical modeling and digital technologies. The works identified were “Mathematical modeling in OBMEP problems: geometric visualization with support from the GeoGebra software” and “Potentialities and Challenges of Online Mathematics Teaching: example of an experience with Engineering students in Polytechnic Education in Portugal. The developed skills presented by the articles were logical deduction, geometric reasoning and the ability to solve problems. Research shows better engagement on the part of students.
