Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this review is to problematize the issue of human resource churning in organizational performance, investigating the role of argumentation theories and whether they conceal relationships of association or impact. Originality/value: This study made it possible to expand the theoretical framework by analyzing the existing literature on the subject of human resource churning and organizational performance, which, as a whole, has been gaining relevance and pertinence for organizations to take action on and which we assume is the first time it has been conceived, given the lack of literature that addresses these two subjects simulta-neously, and this was the criterion used in this article, to combine these subjects and analyze their association and impact. Design/methodology/approach: A narrative review was chosen due to the fact that this methodology provides an overview of the topics covered, with the aim of combining various perspectives and synthe-sizing articles already published on the subject. This review is based on bibliographical research, a preventive approach, and a line of improvement in terms of organizational performance, seeking answers to these problems, albeit contingent ones. Findings: The conclusion is that anticipating or predicting the occurrence of churning allows organizations to act through strategic measures to retain human resources, in order to minimize the costs of voluntary departures, contributing to organizational performance.
