Evolution of logistics performance index and their structure in selected countries

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Logistics performance measurement is an essential tool for managing organizations, playing a key role in monitoring and evaluating logistics processes. The results of these measurements serve as important indicators for managers, enabling them to effectively adapt processes and improve the performance of logistics systems. The aim of performance monitoring is to identify areas for improvement and, once measures have been implemented, to ensure and monitor their results using established indicators. The Logistics Performance Index (LPI) is widely used in the logistics sector, both nationally and internationally, as a performance assessment tool. This index provides a comprehensive view of the logistics capabilities of countries and organizations, allowing comparison and identification of areas with high potential for improvement. This study will use time series and cluster analysis to evaluate the evolution of the LPI between 2007 and 2022. Time series analysis will identify long-term trends and fluctuations in logistics performance, while cluster analysis will provide insights into regional differences and classify countries based on their performance. Implementing the LPI allows managers and organizations to gain a deeper understanding of their own logistics processes and identify best practices from other sources. The final section will provide an assessment of the current state of logistics in the context of global trends and propose recommendations for improving logistics performance. Effective measurement of logistics systems performance is key to achieving competitiveness and sustainable development. Using tools such as LPI, managers can more accurately identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement, leading to more efficient use of resources and increasing the overall efficiency of organizations.
