Abstract: In this paper, I wanted to check whether, in addition to meaning and form, the affective marking of words also affects their organization in the mental lexicon. For this purpose, I conducted a study in which participants were asked to write down as many free associations as possible to given words. I assumed that if the activated words were the same in terms of affectivity, it would indicate the influence of affective valence of words on the structure of the mental lexicon. The results of the study confirmed my hypothesis.
