Setting up an electrophysiology laboratory in Rwanda: A journey of collaboration and innovation
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Until 2024, Rwanda lacked electrophysiology (EP) services capable of diagnostic EP studies and catheter ablation. Before then, only permanent pacemakers were routinely implanted. Radiofrequency ablation has demonstrated an improvement in quality of life and a reduction in costs in a variety of contexts.1,2 There is a need to establish cost-effective and sustainable EP services in low- and middle-income countries such as in Africa where access to them remains severely limited.3,4
