MO-WOA-GRA-TOPSIS integrated framework for thermo-hydrodynamic optimization of supercritical n-decane in aerospace corrugated cooling systems

Type: article
Abstract: This study proposes a novel multi-objective optimization framework combining the Modified Whale Optimization Algorithm (MO-WOA), grey relational analysis (GRA), and TOPSIS for enhancing thermo-hydrodynamic performance of supercritical n-decane in aerospace corrugated cooling systems. Five critical design parameters (corrugation pitch, height, fillet radius, pressure, and mass flow rate) were systematically analyzed. Quadratic response surface models were established for three key metrics: Nusselt number (Nu), friction factor (f), and average temperature fluctuation coefficient (ΔC). Grey relational analysis revealed that dimensionless corrugation height dominates Nu (26.73%) and f (24.62%), while mass flow rate primarily affects ΔC (21.88%). The Pareto front analysis achieved a 46.2% Nu improvement and 19.7% f reduction while maintaining ΔC within acceptable limits. The NS-WOA-TOPSIS framework demonstrates superior thermal management capabilities, offering insights for advanced aero-engine cooling system design.
