Abstract: Sustainability is an issue of global concern, especially in agriculture where balancing food production for a growing population with environmental impact is vital. This systematic literature review focuses on the economic pillar of sustainability of farm enterprises. Gaps in this area of research are revealed, including the lack of attention this issue has received in business and accounting journals, a dearth of qualitative studies on this topic, and the absence of insights into the financial impact of environmental policy changes on farm enterprises. A future research agenda to contribute to developing the literature in this area is provided.
