Abstract: The aim of the work is to analyze the way lawyers are portrayed in films and to try to determine what impact it has on society, what stereotypes are reproduced and what ideas are created among viewers of given films. The article describes the beginnings of film sociology as a separate subdiscipline, and then characterizes selected characters from several films to illustrate the bias in the portrayal of lawyers in film art. It can be noticed that people representing the legal community are portrayed as unpleasant and privileged people who take advantage of their position. This contributes to prejudice and distrust in the justice system. However, it should be remembered that today’s film recipient can easily check whether the information contained in the film is consistent with reality.
