New Protein Rich Plant Diet in 21st Century
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This research paper explores the rising trend of plant-based diets in response to health, environmental, and ethical concerns, focusing specifically on protein-rich plant alternatives. Alternative protein sources that are both environmentally benign and nutritionally adequate are becoming more important as the world's population grows and sustainability concerns intensify. This article examines how protein sources have evolved throughout time, from traditional plant proteins like grains and legumes to newer, high-protein plants such as hemp seeds, quinoa, and peas. Technical advances in genetic engineering and food processing that increase the nutritional composition and functional properties of plant proteins are also discussed. The paper also covers the economic and environmental benefits of plant-based proteins, such as reduced carbon footprints, water consumption, and land requirements, while highlighting the challenges of food processing, consumer acceptance, and protein completeness. The study's conclusion emphasizes the potential of plant-based proteins to promote a more sustainable and healthy global food system, with further advances expected to further modify dietary patterns.
