Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Globally, the mortality rate of girls is lower, whereas in India it is higher, reflecting gender discrimination. Additionally, the high number of child brides in India negatively impacts adolescent health. Unsafe abortions are a major cause of maternal mortality in India. According to NFHS-5, a large number of women are undergoing abortions at home through untrained methods. To address these issues, the government implemented the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). The present study focuses on women of the Tharu tribe in the Khatima block of Udham Singh Nagar district. It was found that most women benefited from the scheme, utilizing the financial aid for nutrition and health services, leading to better maternal care during pregnancy and improvements in infant health as well. Abstract in Hindi Language:
