Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system and is commonly triggered by viral infections. Since the beginning of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, ADEM associated with COVID-19 has also been reported. Herein, we describe a 60-year-old female who presented with acute encephalopathy and lower limb weakness 10 days after COVID-19 infection. The patient showed reversible multifocal white matter lesions in brain magnetic resonance imaging, suggesting ADEM, and fully recovered after immune therapy.
