Descolonizar las teorías y políticas en sistemas de salud desde los feminismos descoloniales

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The aim of this article is to review and discuss the epistemic foundations of coloniality, from which gender studies applied to theories and policies on health systems in Latin America and the Caribbean were developed. It also seeks to characterize the possible contributions and critical intersections of decolonial, Black, and community feminisms for the development of the categorical framework for the refoundation of health systems in the Global South. The first part reviews the situated knowledge of the South regarding Eurocentric and Anglo-Saxon feminist theoretical currents reproduced through what is known as the gender perspective in health system theories and policies, within the framework of modern scientific thought and its dynamics of the coloniality of power, knowledge, and understanding. Finally, a theoretical description is provided of the main contributions and foundations of decolonial, Black, and community feminisms, critically examining the category of “gender” and opening a discussion about the potential contributions of these feminist epistemologies of the South for monitoring the intersectionalities of health and life as part of the new categorical framework of critical studies for the refoundation of health systems for the 21st century in Abya Yala.
