Abstract: The recent art system is founded on an overlap without mediation between a curatorial practice based on the methods of cultural studies and a market appreciation according to the principles of the luxury industry. Art criticism, a traditional mediator between production and institution or market, has lost much of its strength with the end of a teleological and Universalist conception of art.
