Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: The article presents the results of an empirical study aimed at evaluating the state and dynamics of motor qualities development in reconnaissance cadets through high-intensity interval training (HIIT). The research was conducted at the Military Academy (Odesa) and involved 158 cadets divided into three groups based on their level of involvement in different forms of physical activity. Group №1 systematically performed a set of HIIT exercises, Group №2 attended other sports sections, while Group №3 participated only in mandatory physical training sessions. Assessment was carried out using a set of physical tests, including pull- ups, upward circles and muscle-ups on the bar, 3 km run, 24 kg kettlebell snatch, and 100-meter sprint. Over the course of four academic years, all groups showed performance improvements; however, Group №1 demonstrated the highest growth: strength exercises improved by up to +7.7 repetitions, endurance (kettlebell snatch) by up to +52 reps, and speed (100 m sprint) improved by 1.3 seconds. Statistical analysis confirmed the advantage of systematic HIIT use over other physical activity regimes. The obtained results prove the effectiveness of HIIT as an integrated tool for developing essential physical qualities required for fulfilling specialized tasks in military service. The practical significance of the study lies in the potential implementation of adapted HIIT programs into the training process of military higher education institutions to improve combat readiness, functional endurance, and physical resilience of future officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
