Abstract: Edible insect consumption has grown in popularity worldwide due to its high protein content and environmental sustainability. Despite their potential to ameliorate environmental difficulties, Western countries have been slower to adopt this practice than many Asian, African, and Latin American societies. Insects are extremely nutritious, including high protein levels, amino acids, carbs, lipids, and vitamins. This research looks at the nutritional advantages, regularly consumed species, the importance of insects in the environment, their potential as a sustainable food source, and obstacles, including health concerns. Results: Entomophagy has a long history in around 113 nations. Insects continue to be a valuable protein source in many civilizations. Many edible insects are now processed into various food items, indicating increased market demand. Research shows they have a higher protein content and a lower environmental footprint than traditional animals. Studying edible insects provides solutions to global food security issues while promoting biodiversity and environmental health.
