Abstract: The article examines the concept and essence of addictive behavior and its impact on the formation of the personality of adolescents. Addictive behavior is defined by the authors as a form of deviant behavior, consisting in an obsessive need to escape from reality by changing one's mental state, accompanied by the manifestation and maintenance of intense emotions. Factors contributing to the emergence of addictions are also identified. Statistical data indicating the growth of addictive behavior among adolescents are provided. The results of a study devoted to identifying the factors in the formation of addictive behavior in adolescents from dysfunctional families are described. It is concluded that the state of the social environment in which adolescents live contributes to the development of addictive behavior. Among the main reasons for the formation of addictive behavior are dissatisfaction with the financial situation of the family, the absence of close parent-child relationships in the family and poor organization of leisure or its absence. The essence of the program for the prevention of addictive behavior developed by the authors, aimed at adolescents and their families, is presented. The program includes three main aspects: the cognitive aspect, related to cognition, and including information and education activities; the emotional aspect, the purpose of which is to change and manage the emotional state of the teenager, his feelings, mood and emotional attitude to addictive behavior; the behavioral aspect, including prosocial activities and the process of developing the necessary skills.
