Abstract: This article aims to analyze how researchers study banking, bank performance, bank diversification, and crises. Furthermore, the progression of these disciplines in the 20th and 21st centuries. A plethora of empirical, exploratory, and philosophical studies have been conducted about the bank's finances, diversification, economic recessions, and financial crises. Nevertheless, there have been limited efforts to provide a thorough scientific mapping of banking and its performance as a distinct subject. Thus, the objective of the study is to consolidate knowledge pertaining to research trends.
