Developing the Ability to Solve One-Variable Equations and Inequalities by Using the KWDL Technique for 2nd Year Lower Secondary School Students at Na Seng Lower Secondary School, Kaysone Phomvihane, Savannakhet Province
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study aimed to: (1) examine the ability of second-year lower secondary school students to solve one-variable equations and inequalities through the implementation of the KWDL technique in teaching and learning, and (2) investigate students' satisfaction with learning to solve one-variable equations and inequalities using KWDL-based learning activities. The research sample consisted of 24 second-year students from Na Seng Lower Secondary School, Kaysone Phomvihane Capital, Savannakhet Province, during the second semester of the 2023–2024 academic year. The sample was selected using purposive random sampling. Research instruments included lesson plans, an achievement test on solving one-variable equations and inequalities, and a student satisfaction questionnaire related to KWDL-based learning activities. Data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and Paired Sample t-test for hypothesis testing. The findings revealed that: Students' ability to solve one-variable equations and inequalities significantly improved after learning through the KWDL technique, with a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level. Students' satisfaction with learning through the KWDL technique was at a high level (Mean = 4.13 , S.D = 0.45).
