Influence of radiation and hybrid nanoparticle on freezing utilizing numerical method

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article investigates the effects of dispersing hybrid nanoparticles and incorporating radiation effects on the solidification process using numerical simulations. The system is modeled with a circular adiabatic wall and rectangular fins attached to the cold wall. To improve the accuracy of the results, mesh adaptation based on the position of the solidification front was employed, and the simulations were carried out using the Galerkin method. Validation tests demonstrated a high degree of accuracy in the model's predictions. The insertion of fins into the system enhanced the diffusion of cold energy into the region, and the isotherms' configuration closely followed the geometry of the system. The outputs discovered that the addition of radiation effects led to a decrement in solidification time by approximately 10 %. As hybrid nanoparticles were dispersed within the water, the solidification time decreased by about 32 %. The impact of nanoparticles is 3.22 times greater than that of the radiation factor alone. This highlights the considerable potential of hybrid nanoparticles in accelerating the solidification process, offering significant improvements in efficiency compared to radiation effects. The results not only confirm the effectiveness of these techniques but also underscore their potential to revolutionize thermal energy systems by improving energy storage and reducing process times.
