Abstract: This practice-as-research project explores the life and the writings of the only Maltese saint, Father George Preca, from a homoerotic perspective. By using hermeneutics of suspicion and hermeneutics of reclamation, the researchers of this project question and investigate the latent queer aspects of the spirituality of this saint, juxtaposing them against the wider context of queer Catholic spirituality. These insights gave birth to the writing of an original script in Maltese called Iddi Dun Ġorġ (Let Your Light Shine on Us, Father George). This paper analyses the theoretical framework that has influenced the artistic project. Among other things, it focuses on the writing of the script, as well as the feedback provided by a focus group which led to the development of the second draft.
