Abstract: Indonesians living in desolate areas are unable to receive and use electricity infrastructure entering the village because of the geographical location. Even though there is a huge potential for solar radiation, its performance depends highly on solar radiation. Also, there are times when the power and output voltage characteristics of solar panel usually change due to solar radiation or changes in its temperatures. The causes of these changes are changes in weather and the shifting direction of the sun which affect the proper battery charging process. Generally, battery is a medium for storing electrical energy and it is a critical components in the solar power generation process. To obtain a stable solar panel output voltage, a power converter is required. Therefore, this research aimed to use PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control from the proposed power converter based on the results of MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar panels using P&O (Perturb & Observe) control. The design and test results showed that the efficiency of SEPIC (Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter) in determining the maximum power point of the system was 73%-97%. Moreover, in a low radians intensity condition with a high duty cycle, efficiency reached more than 90%. This research contributed to improving the power efficiency generated by the solar panel system.
