A revision of Chrysolina (Latipoda) altimontana species group (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) from Tibetan Plateau, China
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The Chrysolina (Latipoda) altimontana species group is established within the subgenus Latipoda Bieńkowski, 2024 to include six species, namely Ch. altimontana (Jacobson, 1896), Ch. galinae sp. nov., Ch. gyacaensis Daccordi et Yang, 2011, Ch. mauroi Lopatin, 2005, Ch. patrikeevi Bieńkowski, 2024, and Ch. romantsovi Bieńkowski, 2024 that inhabit the Tibetan Plateau in the Qinghai Province, NW Sichuan Province, and Xizang Autonomous Region of China. This species group is characterized by the following main characters. Body usually small (4.4–7.5 mm), dark metallic. Elytron with more or less regular equidistant puncture rows. Pygidium without furrow. Hind wings absent. Tibiae simple, not angularly protruded outward at the apex. Tarsomere 1 with short glabrous basal stripe beneath. Tarsomeres 1–3 entirely pubescent below in both sexes. Chrysolina altimontana is transferred from the subgenus Pezocrosita Jacobson, 1901 to the subgenus Latipoda, Ch. mauroi is transferred from the subgenus Allohypericia Bechyné, 1950 to the subgenus Latipoda, Ch. gyacaensis Daccordi et Yang, 2011, not attributed to any subgenus, is placed in the subgenus for the first time. Lectotype of Ch. roborowskii (Jacobson, 1896) is designated. A new synonymy is proposed: Ch. altimontana = Ch. roborowskii syn. nov. Chrysolina fallax (Jacobson, 1896) is considered as nomen dubium. Types of all previously described nominal taxa except Ch. gyacaensis and Ch. fallax were examined. Type localities of Ch. altimontana, Ch. fallax, and Ch. roborowskii are clarified. A key to the species and a distribution map are compiled. Photographs of habitus and male aedeagus are presented for all species.
