Combinatorial Effects of Zinc Status and Aging on Bone in Male Mice
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Objectives: A significant portion of older men are at risk for marginal zinc deficiency, osteoporosis, and increased risk for fractures. Dietary zinc is essential for optimal bone growth, but less is known regarding the combined impact of aging and dietary zinc status on skeletal health. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effect of age (young and old) and Zn status on bone mass and on cancellous bone microarchitecture in a mouse model.
