Study Protocol: Impact of a Diet in Which Digestible Carbohydrates Are Substituted by Dietary Fiber on Glycemia, Satiety, Energy Intake and the Gut Microbiome
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Study Protocol
Abstract: Objectives: Replacing digestible carbohydrates with isolated dietary fibers in food products provides a strategy to lower the glycemic index and energy density of foods while stimulating gut microbiome metabolism. However, the effects of reformulation of food products through systematic replacement of digestible carbohydrates with dietary fiber in well-controlled human nutrition trials remain largely unexplored. This study aims to investigate the impact of a diet composed of reformulated fiber rich foods, on glycemia, satiety, energy intake and microbiome composition and function in adults with excess body weight.
