Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The family plays a crucial role in the life of a person and of the whole nation. We believe that learning from experience of our previous generations, inscribed in the Old Russian literature, will be instrumental in defining family values of the Russian nation. The current article focuses on the family narrative in the Illustrated Chronicle of Ivan the Terrible, namely on its generic and stylistic characteristics. Apparently, this will help better understand what place the family had in the mind of the medieval Russian chronicler and what value it had. No attempts have been made earlier to analyze the generic and stylistic characteristics of the family narrative in the Illustrated Chronicle.
