Abstract: The auditory system is a complex network of anatomical and physiological components that enable the detection, processing, and interpretation of sound. It spans from the peripheral structures, such as the outer ear, middle ear, and cochlea, to central pathways in the brainstem and auditory cortex. This system translates acoustic signals into meaningful perceptions of pitch, volume, timbre, and spatial location. Beyond the basic mechanics, auditory perception is shaped by cognitive and neurological processes, allowing individuals to distinguish speech, music, and environmental sounds.
