Abstract: The current research is based on the stylistic analysis of reporting clauses in the novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The key objective is to analyze the stylistic features of these clauses using a qualitative research method to analyze excerpts from the novel. The theoretical framework used in this study is Leech and Short’s (2007) Heuristic Model for stylistic analysis, which is applied for both data collection and data analysis. The initial analysis focuses on lexical and grammatical choices, figures of speech, and the contextual elements present in the text of the novel. The major findings of this article offer valuable insights for scholars interested in knowing how stylistic devices contribute to meaning-making. Moreover, this article aids in understanding the novel’s themes, characters’ emotions and development, their perspectives, and the underlying meanings present in the text. Overall, this article contributes to the stylistic analysis of a significant novel that has been translated into many languages around the world.
