Accelerating Research and Development Processes Through In-House Pre-Compliance Testing Using In-Lab Constructed Setups
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper explores strategies for accelerating the research and development (R&D) process through in-house pre-compliance testing in a dedicated laboratory. The focus is on conducting electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, particularly conducted emissions, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity, early in the development cycle. The paper also introduces an innovative device, called the DMX Buddy. This is a specialized device designed to bridge the gap between intelligent lighting systems and non-intelligent light sources. One of the key features of the device is its ability to act as a gateway between the DMX512 protocol and other control systems that incorporate failsafe mechanisms. The control unit of the device is a microcontroller from STMicroelectronics, aimed at managing the interactions between various peripherals, power management circuits, and user interfaces.
