Abstract: This tribute to Professor Emeritus Dr Igor Kaučič on his seventieth birthday explores his life, research, teaching and professional work, highlighting his contribution to the development of Slovenian constitutional law. It outlines his academic and professional career at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, and his work in various professional roles. The discussion centres on his research, which has addressed a wide range of complex issues in constitutional law over several decades, with a particular focus on direct democracy, constitutional amendment and the constitutional status of the head of state. Particular attention is paid to his dedication to teaching and mentoring, his service on editorial boards and his contribution to core literature for the study of constitutional law. It also examines his contributions to legislative drafting, his work in expert groups of the National Assembly and his involvement in professional associations, including the Association for Constitutional Law of Slovenia. The concluding section highlights his continued commitment to research, teaching and the development of Slovenian constitutional law since he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus.
