Strategic Management of the Effectiveness of a Pharmaceutical Enterprise in the Context of Sustainable Development

Abstract: The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the current issues of sustainable development of pharmaceutical enterprises in the context of profound socio- economic changes observed in the national and global context. The authors focus on the growing importance of the concept of sustainable development as a strategic approach to management, combining economic feasibility, environmental responsibility and social orientation. The paper reveals the essence of sustainable development as a complex multidimensional process that involves achieving balanced growth of enterprises through the efficient use of resources, maintaining high standards of product quality, environmental safety and ensuring the social well-being of employees and consumers. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the fundamental principles of sustainable development, including innovation, adaptability, ecological balance, responsible management and long-term orientation. The article describes in detail their significance for the pharmaceutical industry, which has a high level of regulation, social significance and dependence on external and internal factors. It is shown that sustainable development of enterprises is not only a tool for economic stabilization, but also an important factor in strengthening reputation, expanding market presence and increasing investment attractiveness. In the context of modern challenges, in particular, the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, the peculiarities of the functioning of pharmaceutical enterprises in conditions of extreme economic and logistical instability are analyzed. The key problems facing the industry are identified, including disruptions in the supply of raw materials, increased production costs, personnel safety risks, the need to adapt to changes in the legislative field and increased public demand for affordable and high-quality medicines. The study proposes a number of practical directions for overcoming the identified problems. In particular, the feasibility of actively implementing the principles of energy efficiency, digital transformation, the use of alternative sources of raw materials, optimization of logistics processes and strengthening social dialogue between business, government and the public is substantiated.
