This study selects the time span from 2012 to 2022, covering 31 provinces (including municipalities directly under the Central Government and autonomous regions) in China, in order to deeply explore the potential impact of digital inclusive finance on the income of rural residents, and carry out a detailed analysis by using the fixed effect model. The results show that digital inclusive finance has played a significant positive role in the income growth of rural residents. In addition, the study also reveals that there are significant regional differences between the eastern and central and western regions in the impact of digital inclusive finance on farmers’ income, and the positive effect in the eastern region is more prominent. Furthermore, by introducing the level of economic development as a mediating variable, the mediating effect model is analyzed, and the results show that the level of economic development is the key mediating factor for digital inclusive finance to affect farmers’ income.
