Abstract: the Landsat-8 satellite image processing technology is presented, which includes preliminary operations; spectral synthesis in natural and artificial colors using thermal and infrared spectral channels; creation of NDWI and MNDWI index images; threshold binarization of the index image; morphological filtering of a binary image; calculation of the difference image for two pictures taken at different times; vectorization of a binary image and calculation of characteristics.
