Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of linguistic idiosyncrasies found in the poetry of Ryszard Krynicki. The focus is on the use of neologisms, terms, colloquialisms, mythologisms, archaisms and orthographic choices. It was observed that the linguistic idiosyncrasies serve to illustrate the existence of a human being in the second half of the 20th century. They provide a backdrop for outlining existential experiences that were common within the society of the Polish People’s Republic (PRL). They reveal Krynicki’s unique way of perceiving and experiencing the world. These elements are significant in that they attest to the poet’s erudition. In order for the reader to fully comprehend the ideological message of the poems, it is necessary to decipher these elements.
