Abstract: As the most important people in a child’s life, parents are responsible for their child’s growth and development. Hence, this study was designed to assess the parenting styles of solo parents and their effectiveness towards their young adult child. Through purposive sampling, 105 pairs of solo parents and their young adult children residing in the perimeters of Amulung were requested to be part of the study. Survey questionnaires were utilized to gather data and were analyzed through descriptive-comparative analysis. In analyzing if the parenting styles of the solo parents were authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, or neglectful, the findings showed that both the solo parents and their young adults assessed their parenting style as authoritative.
