From Ambedkar's Perspective: Buddhism
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s perspective on Buddhism reflects his deep understanding of religion as a tool for social transformation rather than mere spiritual salvation. Rejecting caste-based discrimination, ritualism, and blind faith prevalent in Hinduism, Ambedkar embraced Buddhism for its rational, moral, and egalitarian values. He believed that true religion should be based on reason, compassion, and equality, and must align with scientific principles. Ambedkar viewed Buddha not as a divine incarnation, but as a human who offered a logical and ethical path for societal well-being. His adoption of Buddhism was a conscious decision rooted in its democratic ideals and its emphasis on moral discipline. Through his writings, he presented Buddhism as a dynamic and inclusive religion capable of addressing contemporary social issues. His vision of Dhamma is centered on humanity, justice, and progress, making Buddhism a path of liberation for the oppressed. Abstract in Hindi Language: डॉ.
