Abstract: The present research aimed to analyze the structure and ecological succession of tree species with a height of more than 50 meters in the Iratapuru Sustainable Development Reserve, located in the state of Amapá, Brazilian Amazon. From a field expedition and collection of dendrometric data, it was possible to identify representative species of different successional stages, with a predominance of late secondary and climax species, such as Bertholletia excelsa (chestnut tree) and Dinizia excelsa (red angelim). The floristic analysis revealed a high degree of conservation of the forest fragment, with centuries-old trees and a large accumulation of biomass, typical characteristics of mature ecosystems. Additionally, a successional classification table was constructed based on specialized authors, allowing us to understand the ecological dynamics and functional diversity of the forest. The results highlight the importance of conserving protected areas for maintaining biodiversity and resilience of the Amazon forest in the face of climate change and anthropogenic pressures.
