API development for data collection automation on soil and climate conditions in grape growing
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Viticulture is one of the key branches of agriculture. In case of low automation of the grape growing process, the methods of monitoring the stages of the previous week may limit visual observations of the appearance of plants and manual measurements of soil and climate indicators. Which does not always allow obtaining profitable information about the state of the crop. The use of Internet of Things (IOT) technologies allows for operational monitoring of temperature, air and soil humidity, as well as the level of solar activity. These parameters play a decisive role in the conditions of the terroir, affecting the yield and quality of grape. For example, insufficient or excessive humidity during the flowering period can lead to a decrease in the quality of the crop or even its complete loss. Similar problems occur when growing later grape varieties, requiring maintaining optimal temperature conditions to achieve phenolic maturity of berries. To solve the problems, the author has developed an AC rotation system designed to control the growing conditions of grapes. The system can collect data in two versions: issuing API commands to an external meteorological system, or processing data received from microcontrollers. Hardware equipped with microcontroller modules and air humidity, temperature, pressure and room humidity sensors connected to them. The implementation of such a system will significantly improve the accuracy of vineyard management and reduce labor costs, which can ensure the quality of the final product.
