First Report of Odontotermes Profeae Akhtar from Assam, India

Abstract: Termites are eusocial insects of the order Blattodea and infraorder Isoptera. Out of 35 species of termites reported from different parts of Assam, a north-eastern state of India, 11 species belong to the genus Odontotermes Holmgren. In this study, we report the presence of Odontotermes profeae Akhtar, the twelfth species from this region found in a newly built mound from the Dhemaji district of the state.
