Abstract: Introduction: Aquagenic pruritus is a chronic debilitating itchy skin condition triggered by water exposure with limited treatment options. Case Presentation: Here, we present a case of primary aquagenic pruritus in an adult male who was successfully treated with β-alanine. Treatment efficacy was maintained at 20-week follow-up. Conclusion: This study adds to the body of evidence supporting a role for β-alanine as an efficient and safe treatment option in patients with aquagenic pruritus. Furthermore, it includes a discussion of the pharmacodynamics of β-alanine and provides an insight into the pathophysiology of aquagenic pruritus.
