Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: At the end of 2024, Indonesia experienced a transformation in government leadership. Although the democratic party is over, public opinion continues to run. Various new policies consciously or unconsciously shape public opinion on various platforms, including social media. So, public reactions and opinions that respond to the new government lead to various perceptions channelled through social media, which is part of political communication. The massive use of social media allows people to express more opinions, which is also politically charged through social media platforms. Platform X has a broad audience reach with the ability to reach users interested in commenting specifically on the new Prabowo-Gibran government through the search feature and does not limit users to joining the discussion. This study examines public opinion to the beginning of the Prabowo-Gibran government through platform ‘X’. This research is qualitative research with a media analysis method, in this case, the X platform, using the NVivo 12 Plus analysis tool. The results showed that the audience of platform X users had various assumptions and opinions about the Prabowo administration. In addition to optimistic assumptions about the new government, the audience’s opinion also leads to criticism directed at the vice president, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The results are expected to be a reference for the current government to be selective in determining programs and also to be a reference for academics on how to conduct objective qualitative analysis using social media with available tools.
