Abstract: The fusion of healthcare and IoT has produced smart hospitals—digitally empowered institutions that use connected devices and data-driven technologies to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. This review outlines the different facets of the role of IoT in transforming healthcare systems using real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, workflow automation, and interoperability. We analyze case studies, technological frameworks, and implementation challenges to provide a comprehensive understanding of IoT applications in modern hospitals. The implications are that while IoT significantly enhances the delivery of care, it depends on solid infrastructure, policy evolution, and cross-professional collaboration.
