Using a Gpt Chatbot in University Career Guidance Work

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: "The article discusses the process of developing and implementing an intelligent chatbot based on the GPT-4 language model for career guidance support for applicants to Odessa National Technological University (ONTU). The relevance of the topic is due to the need to modernize traditional approaches to career guidance in the context of the digital transformation of education. The authors note that familiar forms of interaction, such as information brochures, personal consultations and open days, are gradually giving way to intelligent systems that can provide prompt, accurate and personalized support. The created chatbot was trained on data related to IT specialties (122 ""Computer Science"", 123 ""Computer Engineering""), and integrated using the Flask framework and an interface based on HTML / CSS / JavaScript. Particular attention was paid to the formation of prompts - text instructions to the model that determine the style, tonality and content of the answers. Experiments were conducted to optimize communication patterns, which made it possible to achieve a high degree of relevance and comprehensibility of responses for the target audience. During testing among students, applicants and university staff, the system demonstrated high accuracy, response speed and stability of operation. Users positively rated the ease of interaction, the quality of consultations and the completeness of the information provided. In comparison with traditional career guidance methods, the GPT bot showed higher personalization and accessibility, especially in 24/7 mode. The authors conclude that the use of GPT models in the educational environment can significantly improve the effectiveness of career guidance activities, promote an informed choice of specialty and, as a result, improve the academic and career prospects of applicants. The presented development illustrates the practical implementation of artificial intelligence in the context of higher education and can serve as a model for the implementation of similar solutions in other educational institutions."
