Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The present study aimed to discuss the consequences of ignorance as an absence of knowledge and its impact on the life of the artist Camille Claudel (1864 – 1943). To analyze her biography, qualitative and bibliographical research was used. It was investigated the significant role that the intimate relationship with his master, the famous sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840 – 1917), played in the oblivion of Claudel's works, who died anonymously, confined in a psychiatric institution. This study reveals the social erasure of women, throughout history, who dared to transgress current standards, such as the artistic career of the French sculptor. Keywords: epistemologies of ignorance; feminism; women in art; Camille Claudel.
