Broadband vibration control in irregularly perforated composite hexagonal-prism frame via NiTi-ST-based nonlinear absorbers: Modeling, analysis, and experiments
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: A Nitinol steel wire rope-enhanced nonlinear vibration absorber (NiTi-ST-NVA) is developed to address variable-temperature broadband vibration-damping challenges in the composite laminate hexagonal-prism frame with irregular holes (CLHF-IH). A hole-compensated Rayleigh-Ritz method is proposed to address the dynamic issue caused by irregular perforations, validated through finite element simulations and hammer impact tests. A multidimensional nonlinear dynamic decoupling model is established, integrating Galerkin truncation, Runge-Kutta, and harmonic balance methods. Vibration tests achieve a maximum damping efficiency of 55.42 %, demonstrating effective vibration control across the entire frame. Aircraft typical temperature domain thermal experiments (−20 °C to 120 °C) confirm the temperature-adaptive damping performance. Parameter optimization identifies an optimal added mass range beyond which excessive mass degrades suppression efficiency and structural dynamics. These findings provide a validated framework for vibration control in perforated aerospace structures and the application of shape memory alloy devices.
