Abstract: This article presents an experience report on how a mother used children's stories as a pedagogical tool to educate her children, highlighting the importance of preparing them for the challenges of contemporary society. Since ancient times, myths have been used by older generations to transmit valuable lessons to younger ones. Similarly, children's literature, in addition to providing entertainment, plays an essential role in developing children's autonomy, helping them assimilate values and skills necessary for life. With a simple and accessible approach, stories can be an important resource for adults in guiding children through the complexities of social interactions. Through this initiative, children's literature was used to cultivate values and competencies, promoting the autonomous growth of children and preparing them for the contemporary world.
