Abstract: The article aims to relate the discrimination against Afro Brazilian religions to the use of religious imagery by sectors of Brazilian NeoPentecostalism. Through a literature review based on theology and sociology of religion, data on religious discrimination in Brazil will be presented, the nebulous matrix of the Brazilian religious imaginary and its meaning will be identifi ed, and the use of this nebula by neo-Pentecostal sectors in the construction of the Other will be evidenced, subsequently influencing the discriminatory religious discourse and practice. It is hoped that the article can point out the origin of the discrimination suff ered by Afro-Brazilian and contribute to the deconstruction of demonization, moving towards religious plurality and diversity in Brazil.
