Abstract: This study investigates the impact of welding thermal cycles on the corrosion rate in the first layer deposite of AISI 308L produced using Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) with GTA Welding (GTAW). Corrosion tests were carried out in a 3.5% wt NaCl solution using a standard three-electrode cell configuration, and phase changes were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD). Potentiodynamic polarization tests revealed differences in corrosion rates, with cycle 7th exhibiting the best corrosion resistance and cycle 3rd the highest corrosion rate. XRD analysis identified various chromium compound phases, with cycle 3rd containing Chromium Iron Carbide (Cr2Fe14C), which has poor resistance to corrosion. The position of increased chromium in the grain boundary area is seen from the EDS test results. The study concludes that the formation of Chrome Oxide is a key factor in enhancing the corrosion resistance of deposite of AISI 308L produced by WAAM-GTAW.
