Abstract: “Unarmed Against Hitler” may not hold the status of a "real" classic, but it is a must-read. For those interested in civilian resistance and nonviolent struggles, the book tackles the difficult question, "What would you have done about Hitler?" Historian Jacques Semelin uses comparative history to explore the factors that enable or obstruct non-cooperation, protests, strikes, civil disobedience, and rescue operations during oppressive regimes. This examination alone makes it a compelling and thought-provoking read.
