Spatial Data Analysis and Urban Functional Zoning Optimization in Smart City Development
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The rapid expansion of urban areas and the emergence of smart cities have significantly increased the complexity of spatial data analysis and urban planning. Traditional methods of urban zoning and spatial analysis often struggle to account for the dynamic and interconnected nature of modern cities. With the advent of big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning techniques, new opportunities arise to enhance urban functional zoning, optimize land use, and improve resource allocation. This study presents a novel framework that integrates spatial data analysis with advanced optimization algorithms to achieve efficient urban zoning. By leveraging machine learning models and geospatial data, the proposed methodology offers more accurate predictions and optimized solutions for urban space allocation. We introduce a multi-layered approach that not only considers geographical factors but also incorporates socio-economic, environmental, and infrastructural variables to ensure that urban functional zones are better aligned with real-time needs and long-term sustainability goals. Experimental results, derived from case studies of smart cities, validate the effectiveness of our framework in improving spatial planning and operational efficiency. The approach provides valuable insights into the future of urban development, where data-driven decisions pave the way for smarter, more sustainable cities.
